Auburn Council was looking at a contractor that had experience in the area of Council project works, was familiar with the process of Council and was able to work in a partner relationship to resolve issues together rather than in a contractor/client relationship. As is usual in Government contractors that value for money was not the only criteria in awarding the project and Melkonian ticked all the boxes on the contract review for award of the contract. Melkonian used a combination of its own tradespersons and long established relationships with subcontractors for the project so that the best of both worlds were achieved. Melkonian was able to adapt management procedures to achieve the optimum performance out of all the work force to areas of work that required the biggest push and maintain the critical path of the project. The project was of the type that provided many challenges as it was the refurbishment of an old bowling club which was riddled with termites. As areas were exposed, the large extent of additional work became obvious to the project. In true form Melkonian came to the party and placed additional resources on the area of need to ensure that the critical path of the project was achieved. The end result was that Melkonian completed the project 2 weeks after the original completion date and 4 weeks ahead of the allowed extension of time completion date. The result of working with Melkonian is that I now say that I have a very reliable contractor proven to be able to successfully undertake design and construct work exceeding $4.0 million and their performance has convinced me that their expertise would allow them to successfully complete projects of many times that value. The principal and his employees in the office and in the field that have a excellent understanding of achieving results with the minimum of fuss and achieve projects that are within the time, cost and quality of the requirement of a client in many areas of expertise in the sphere of Design and Construction. I would not hesitate in recommending Melkonian to undertake the contracts within the government and non-government sectors and the level of experience is reflected in the quality of work that is produced by the company. Further, it is easier to work with someone who understands the need of a client and Melkonian falls into this category time and time again. No wonder the company is moving for strength to strength as result of the good word of mouth amongst both his repeat clients and new clients.
